Have pride in your work as a sales professional.
Just like any career, it is important that you as a sales professional are proud of your work. When you have taken very good care of your client and this results in a sale, how do you feel? This feeling is unlike any other and is the reward for all your work. Pride and the feeling of accomplishment in sales keep you and your team motivated. Maintaining your Professionalism is key to maintaining pride. What does a professional do? Practice their profession of course! That means having a system of continuous improvement and maintenance of your skills as a sales professional. The best athletes and artists continually practice. For you there is no difference. Have pride in your work and have the viewpoint to continually improve through learning, practice and practical experience.
To maintain your pride, keep in your integrity.
What is the meaning of pride in sales? Pride is being able to consistently meet your sales quotas and targets while keeping in your integrity as a sales professional. For example, have you ever made a quota by closing a client that you did not feel good about? You knew that this client would be trouble but you closed the sale anyway because of the pressure you were under at the time to make a quota. This violates your basic integrity and your attention gets stuck. Whenever you have done this, you end up with your attention getting stuck to that past sale and to that degree you are less motivated to make another sale. You must keep in your own personal integrity. You are better off to let a sale go than close it against your own good judgment.
By maintaining pride and integrity, your reputation will continue to grow.
Most of us as clients ourselves appreciate when we are treated with respect by someone with high integrity and pride in their work. This is the person we most want to do business with. We will recommend this person to our friends and maintain our relationship with them. We will also pay them on time and treat them with the respect they have earned. We will reward them with continuous orders and referrals. Your clients feel the same way. The creation of this relationship with pride and integrity will cause your reputation to grow among your existing clients and this will spread to their friends and colleagues.
